![]() ![]() (Swashbuckler/Arcane Trickster) Rogue 2-3: IF you don't plan on grabbing/using often Quicken metamagic AND are in the "tactical/crafty" mindset, getting Cunning Action and Expertise (Stealth, Perception) may actually be the best defensive option: with Minor Illusion only you can make some quick covers at a safe distance and Dash to run behind them, or use normal speed and Hide. The absolute best IF a) you take Extend as one of your metamagics later and b) you are aware that having some of the best buffs available means you will probably use those spells more often than your primary class spells during most encounters. ![]() Druid 1 + Life Cleric 1: Life Goodberry cheese, heavy armor, extra 8-10 interchangeable spells among something like 40. Plus a bootload of interchangeable spells (I would take a third level for the great lvl 2 spells such as Pass Without Trace but that's me). Shepherd Druid 2: don't remember the multiclass gain armor-wise, but you get a bonus action aura with three powerful effects, although one much better for you (advantage on STR checks in a melee-heavy party, no need to explain right? )). Plus Bardic Inspiration and medium armor/shields (although I don't remember exactly the Swords, and whether it's different in official compared to UA). ![]() Swords / Valor Bard lvl 3 multiclass would work well for you: extra utility cantrips, +half-proficiency on Counterspell later (Jack of All Trades), Healing Words, Dissonant Whispers (can trigger OA), Lesser Restoration, Enhance Ability and Silence will be helpful to the whole party. Now with that said, IF you are set on the healing path because you like it and are ready to bear the extra wait for higher level spells (which is perfectly fine too as long as you are aware). If your are in a pure melee group, fat chance there is at least either one Rogue or one Fighter: the latter has so many ASI he could very well spend one on a "healish" feat, and the former has two archetypes that synergize extremely well with either Healer (Thief: use kit as bonus action) or Inspiring Leader (Swashbuckler, with bonus Initiative based on CHA). Otherwise, I'd argue your ASI would be much better spent on improving the success chance of your spells (+CHA). But honestly even that I'd say is not your responsibility, unless you are really the only one with decent CHA. I agree with most people here that your best ratio investment/benefits is a single level in Hexblade Warlock, and MAYBE take Inspiring Leader with your first ASI. The Sorcerer/Wizard philosophy is always: "Take less damage, need less healing" Other warlock nice things like Armor of Agathys or Hex.Īs long as your ac is like 15 or more you are ok, you have great spells for defense, use them. Proficiency in light and medium armor and shields. You could stick with a 14 dex, and dump str and be perfectly fine.Ĭurse which is great against he big bad of the enemy group, or whoever, and you get an ok heal when they die. You get:Ĭharisma to hit and damage with melee weapons, which will not be that important but it is definitely not bad. I'm thinking about multiclassing into cleric for medium armor + shield, which I think is the best AC bump I can get? What amount of AC is decent under level 5? Also gives me healing which is great. Not to try and start another SORLOCK thread, but if you want armor just take 1 level of Hexblade Warlock. I've got decent stats in everything except strength, so heavy armor is out.
